The Queensland Department of Education and Training provides distance education services through seven state schools of distance education which were established to provide a schooling service to geographically isolated and other home based students with limited educational choice. Additionally, schools of distance education provide services to enhance learning opportunities by offering wider subject choice for mainstream school students and providing a service for by choice home based learners, travelling students and students in a range of alternative education centres. Cairns School of Distance Education

Cairns SDE caters for a student population of approximately 2234 students (658 fulltime). The school is based in North Queensland and teaches students from e-Kindy to year 12. It has a flexible learning centre with behaviour support and a large LOTE program.
Capricornia School of Distance Education – Independent Public School
Be different, make a difference!
Capricornia SDE caters for a student populations of approximately 745 enrolments (600 fulltime) from e-Kindy to Year 12. The school is based in Central Queensland and has two campuses – Rockhampton and Emerald. It has a flexible learning secondary program with behaviour support focusing on reengagement and also a primary LOTE program for small schools.

Charleville SDE caters for a student populations of approximately 218 enrolments (168 fulltime) from e-Kindy to Year 10. The school is part of a Western Alliance to assist with teaching secondary students.
Charters Towers School of Distance Education – Independent Public School

Excellence in education for isolated families
Longreach SODE caters for a student population of approximately 164 students. The school teaches students from e-Kindy to year 10. It is part of a Western Alliance with Charleville and Mt Isa to cater for secondary students. LSODE also caters for tourists.
