Creating engaging learning materials in Canva

In this 60-minute AADES webinar, Sydney Distance Education Teachers will showcase their use of Canva to meet the learning needs of their diverse cohort of students. Participants will explore how Canva can be utilised to create a range of engaging and interactive learning activities and asynchronous learning materials. The release of new Creative Arts, History and Geography, and Personal Development Health and Physical Education syllabuses in NSW, required us to develop learning resources that all teachers could pick up quickly to create learning materials and interactive activities.

Drawing on the principles of explicit teaching strategies and formative feedback, participants will examine how to design Canva interactives that allow for immediate feedback and checks for understanding. Participants will examine how multiple content formats (text, audio, video, captions) can be utilised in Canva. The session will include demonstrations of how to set up Canva interactives that can function within a range of digital learning ecosystems and distance education contexts.

An opportunity to create a Canva interactive with guidance will be provided at the end of the webinar for those who have logged into a Canva account prior to the session.
