What Is Real? Engagement, Making and Authentic Learning in Distance Education

What Is Real? Engagement, Making and Authentic Learning in Distance Education

It is difficult to teach STEM via distance when students do not have access to resources. At the Tasmanian eSchool, we have experimented with 3D printing, Cricut design, stickers, T-shirts, and other physical outputs. Sometimes these have been successful; other times they've had surprisingly little impact on engagement. One possible explanation is that what we as educators see as a ‘real world’ learning activity does not always align with the world our students live in.

This session explores our successes, failures and unanswered questions as we try to design authentic learning experiences for a diverse cohort of distance education students.

This 60-minute AADES webinar is presented by Jacci Cruse and Cameron Rogers from the Tasmanian eSchool.
